At Beta Power Engineering, providing our customers with industry-leading customer service goes hand in hand with supplying high-quality gearbox solutions. As a trusted UK supplier of Hydro-Mec gearboxes, we’re proud to introduce our new Hydro-Mec Gearbox Configurator, now live on the Beta Power Engineering website. This intuitive online tool allows customers to view and tailor configuration specifications for right-angle worm, M-Square worm, Q-Square worm, helical bevel, and shaft-mounted Hydro-Mec gearboxes.
By selecting the gearbox type and refining parameters such as size, ratio, and power requirements, our customers can identify and preview suitable models while preparing accurate technical alignment from the outset. This configurator is supported by our knowledgeable sales team, who are always on hand to provide guidance and assistance as needed.

How the Hydro-Mec Gearbox Configurator Works
Have you ever needed to adjust a gearbox setup because your equipment changed, only to find your current unit can’t be adapted? With Hydro-Mec, that problem disappears.
Our Hydro-Mec gearbox configurator walks you through a number of phases, allowing you to select design and performance parameters from numerous pages. At each level, you can go back and amend prior choices, giving you complete control over the final specification. The following is a breakdown of the processes our configurator takes you through:

Type
The first step is to select the gearbox type, which determines how the gearbox connects to the motor or drive system. Getting this right allows the gearbox to integrate into your system without needing additional adapters later.
Size
Here, we are matching the gearbox to the load so that it meets your application requirements. This includes choosing the appropriate output shaft diameter and confirming the torque capacity.
Mounting
The mounting options determine how the gearbox is physically secured in your machinery. Proper mounting preserves stability and proper force distribution when the gearbox is in operation.
Position
The gearbox position determines its alignment relative to your machine layout so that the gearbox fits the available space and aligns with surrounding components.
Ratio
This determines how the gearbox converts motor speed into usable output speed and torque. A higher ratio increases torque and reduces speed, while a lower ratio does the reverse. By selecting the appropriate ratio, your equipment will perform as intended without placing undue strain on the system.
Output Shaft
How power is delivered from the gearbox to the driving machine depends on the selected output shaft. For an accurate fit and effective power transfer, the shaft’s diameter and design must match that of the connected equipment.
Output
This step allows you to choose between a single- and a double-output shaft. A single output drives one component, while a double output can power two components simultaneously.
Input Size
Choosing an input size, whether in inches or metric, guarantees that the gearbox’s dimensions match those of the motor or drive shaft to avoid compatibility issues.
Mounting Position
By further adjusting the mounting position, you can fine-tune the orientation of the gearbox to fit the design of your machine.
Input Bore Options
This last stage makes a direct link between the gearbox and the input shaft to cut down on vibration.
3D Image Preview
Once you have selected all the specifications, the configurator presents a complete summary of your chosen parameters. It then automatically generates a unique gearbox configuration code along with a 3D image of the selected gearbox, so you have instant visual and technical confirmation before moving forward.
Example Configuration Output
Now your selection is completed:
